Arkansas, No. 3 national seed, gets Santa Clara in first game of Fayetteville Regional

Arkansas and Santa Clara will go in the Fayetteville Regional at 2 p.m. Friday.

Sunday night the Arkansas baseball team learned it was one of the eight national seeds for the NCAA Tournament. Monday it learned who would join in Fayetteville.

The Diamond Hogs will open the regional against Santa Clara on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN+.

Santa Clara, the No. 4 seed in the regional, finished tied for second in the West Coast Conference during the regular season, but won the WCC Tournament over Portland on Saturday. The Broncos finished with a 34-18 record in the regular season.

Joining Arkansas and Santa Clara in the regional are No. 2 Texas Christian and No. 3 Arizona. Those two teams will play after Arkansas-Santa Clara on Friday with each game’s winner advancing in the double-elimination bracket.
