Arkansas misses out on in-state 4-star linebacker Huff to Mizzou

Brian Huff, a four-star linebacker from Valley View High in northeast Arkansas, committed to Missouri on Wednesday.

The rivalry between Arkansas and Missouri may be manufactured for business purposes, but the reality is the Razorbacks and Tigers are awfully close together.

That’s why it had to sting a bit Wednesday when four-star linebacker Brian Huff from Valley View High in northeast Arkansas choose Missouri over the flagship school of the Natural State.

Huff, a 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, would have been the first player to commit to Arkansas from Valley View in the 21st century. But he chose Mizzou over the Hogs, Central Florida and UNLV, where former Arkansas defensive coordinator Barry Odom is now head coach.

According to 247Sports, Missouri pursued Huff harder than the other three schools. At Mizzou, Huff is just the team’s second four-star recruit in the Class of 2024. Had he selected Arkansas, he would have been the Razorbacks’ eighth such level of player.

Arkansas has 14 current commits and the 25th-ranked class. Missouri has 11 commits and the 52nd-ranked class.
