Arkansas just outside Top 25 in AP poll

Arkansas is knocking on the door of the Top 25 for first time since mid-December.

Finally LSU isn’t ahead of Arkansas, anyway.

The Associated Press Top 25 was released Monday and Arkansas remained just on the outside, checking in at a de facto 27th. The Razorbacks picked up 74 points in the poll, just behind Wyoming’s 82. Xavier was the final truly ranked team, having notched 91 points.

Arkansas has won eight straight games, including seven straight in SEC play. The hot streak has followed a nearly monthlong stretch from mid-December to mid-January in which the Hogs dropped five of six, including their first three to start the conference slate. Before the rough patch in December, Arkansas had reached a peak of 10th in the poll.

The Razorbacks haven’t been ranked since, but LSU, a team Arkansas beat in Baton Rouge in mid-January and has lost five of six games since then, but only fell out of the poll this week.

Arkansas hosts the No. 1 team, Auburn, Tuesday night from Bud Walton Arena.
