- Arizona State and California met once last season: ASU topped Cal 80-75 in Berkley on Feb. 16. Sun Devils Gs Remy Martin and Alonzo Verge and Golden Bears G Matt Bradley all scored 22 points in that contest. All three are 2020-21 returnees. Straight up, Arizona State has won five straight in the series, but Cal is 3-2 ATS over that stretch.
- Look for turnovers to possibly be a significant area of advantage for the visiting Sun Devils. Cal has been a turnover minus in two of its three games thus far. Despite a tougher schedule, ASU has managed to be on the plus side of the turnover exchange in each of its three games.
- Arizona State has been giving significant minutes to two highly touted freshmen. Marcus Bagley is a 6-foot-8 forward averaging 15.7 points per game in 27.0 minutes per contest. Josh Christopher is a 6-foot-5 guard averaging 18.7 PPG in 27.0 minutes. Both are returning to their native California for this contest against the Golden Bears.
