‘Are you ready?’ Re-live Bruce Buffer’s first octagon appearance at UFC 8

It’s time to take a trip down memory lane with “the voice of the octagon.”

Outside company president Dana White and color commentator Joe Rogan, longtime octagon announcer Bruce Buffer is arguably the most recognizable person associated with the UFC brand.

For more than two decades, Buffer has been a constant in the octagon. His legendary introductions have set up the biggest fights in the history of the sport, but where did it all begin?

For Buffer, his first time standing between fighters and calling out their names came at UFC 8 in February 1996. At that time, he provided none of the catchphrases that make him famous today.

Buffer is still the UFC’s most frequently used cage announcer to this day. He recently told MMA Junkie that he expects to be back to work once UFC events resume amid the coronavirus pandemic, so long as it’s done in a safe manner.

To see all of Buffer’s work from the night of UFC 8, the entire event is available for replay on UFC Fight Pass.
