Five-star quarterback Arch Manning is fired up to be on the Forty Acres soon.
Steve Sarkisian’s staff pulled off one of the biggest recruiting wins in recent memory by landing a commitment from Manning on June 23. The nation’s No. 1 player in the nation for the 2023 class has remained confident in his pledge to the Longhorns ever since.
247Sports’ Director of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, landed a rare interview with Manning this week to discuss his commitment to Texas and the excitement surrounding the program moving forward.
“I think the great tradition and fanbase and everything about Texas football excited me,” Manning said. “I’m glad I can one day be a part of it.”
Manning also touched on the recruiting side of things, as he currently heads Texas’ 2023 class and has been a vocal leader in terms of swaying other highly rated prospects to Austin. He told Wiltfong that he’s currently working on DeAndre Moore, Duce Robinson and Anthony Hill. On top of that, Manning is attempting to assure all current commits stay and sign.
Overall, it appears Texas won out in Manning’s recruitment due to the city itself, his relationship with the coaching staff and excitement surrounding the future of the program.
“I really enjoyed Austin as a city itself,” Manning said. “I liked the coaches and I got along with my host and current players there and I feel we can build something special there in the next few years and I have a lot of trust in coach Sarkisian. I also like my signing class a lot. I think we’re going to finish out well and have a good class. I’m ready to get to Austin.”
