Arch Manning commits to University of Texas

Steve Sarkisian lands a huge recruit for Texas, nabbing quarterback Arch Manning

The hottest pursuit in college recruiting — outside the transfer portal — has come to an end. Arch Manning, from the family of football royalty, announced on Thursday he plans to attend the University of Texas.

That means Steve Sarkisian has hooked the biggest player in the 2023 recruiting class for his Longhorns.

Manning, a quarterback, is the son of Cooper, nephew of Eli and Peyton, and grandson of Archie Manning.

He has been pursued for years and Sarkisian wins the recruiting war.

It is a huge get for the coach of a struggling college program that has not lived up to its legacy recently.

In Sarkisian’s first season, Texas went 5-7.

Per on3.com:

Manning is the unanimous No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class, according to the Industry Comparison Tool. He is in line to be the first unanimous top recruit since Rashan Gary in the 2016 cycle.

“His skill set is unique, but it’s very exceptional,” New Orleans Isidore Newman head coach Nelson Stewart told On3. “When you see him, he’s 6-4. He’s almost 220 pounds. He’s one of our top two or three fastest kids. He runs a 4.6 40.”
