There were no changes to the top nine teams in this week’s AP Top 25, which was released Sunday afternoon following the results of Week 10. That means, just as it is in the new US LBM Coaches Poll, Penn State remains the no. 9 team in the country according to the voters in the media poll.
Penn State sits between two SEC teams with Alabama at no. 8 and Ole Miss moving up one spot to occupy the no. 10 spot in the AP Top 25 this week. Ole Miss fills the void left by no. 17 Oklahoma, who fell seven spots after losing a second straight game.
Georgia keeps the top spot in this week’s AP Top 25 with 49 first-place votes following a win over no. 16 Missouri this weekend. No. 2 Michigan, Penn State’s next opponent, received 9 first-place votes this week to stay ahead of no. 3 Ohio State, who received 3 first-place votes. No. 4 Florida State also picked up 2 first-place votes in this week’s AP poll.
No. 5 Washington, no. 6 Oregon, and no. 7 Texas fill the other spots in the top 10 this week.
Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State are the only teams from the Big Ten in this week’s AP Top 25. Future members Washington and Oregon are also in this week’s top 10 but UCLA and USC each fell out of the poll after losses this week.
UCLA and USC are each scattered in the others receiving votes category. So is Iowa and former Penn State opponent West Virginia. Iowa, against all odds, is in the driver’s seat in the Big Ten West Division after Week 10. The Mountaineers are now bowl-eligible following a 37-7 victory over BYU this weekend.
