Anthony Davis will travel with Lakers after MRI confirms bruised bum

The Los Angeles Lakers will have their superstar big man with them on their upcoming two-game trip in Dallas and Oklahoma City.

An MRI and a good night of sleep are all that Anthony Davis needed to get the reassurance he needed that his injury wasn’t so serious that he needed to stay behind in Los Angeles while his teammates went on a two-game trip to Dallas and Oklahoma City.

An MRI on Davis’ lower back and tailbone confirmed that his injury was just a bruise and now he will travel on the team’s upcoming trip, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. It was previously reported immediately after the game that Davis would stay behind to rehab in Los Angeles during the trip.

The upcoming trip is a quick one, with a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday in Dallas and Oklahoma City. Although it looked like Davis would miss both of the games, the fact that he is travelling gives him a chance to play in at least one of the games, if not both.

Davis playing through the injury would be par for the course for him and the Lakers so far this season. Both Davis and James have played through several nagging injuries, setting the tone that the Lakers will have their stars unless they’re absolutely not ready to play.
