Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis is coming off arguably the best season of his career, at least in a statistical sense. He averaged 25.9 points on 56.3% field-goal shooting and 12.5 rebounds a game. Had he played in enough games, he would’ve been recognized as the NBA’s official leader in rebounds per game.
But one area in which he has struggled mightily in recent seasons is outside shooting.
After shooting very well from 3-point range during the second half of the 2019-20 season and the entire postseason, Davis made just 23.8% of such attempts over the last three seasons.
Yet Austin Reaves said Davis’ perimeter shooting was impressive during a recent minicamp arranged by LeBron James, something that was confirmed in a recent report by Jovan Buha of The Athletic. Indeed, on media day on Monday, the superstar big man outlined how he worked on his jumper during the summer.

If Davis shoots even the league average on 3-point attempts throughout this coming season, the rest of the NBA will be in even more trouble than it was last year when it comes to trying to contain him.
