Another mock draft sends the Vikings Hendon Hooker

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic sent the Minnesota Vikings a controversial pick at quarterback.

The Minnesota Vikings have a need at quarterback, as Kirk Cousins is only under contract through the end of the 2023 season. They don’t necessarily have to draft a guy this year to be their next quarterback, but it would be a good idea to do so.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman has the Vikings taking that guy in Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. Being one of the most plugged in journalits within the ranks of college football, Feldman found some really interesting intel from annonymous coaches.

“I think he’s super underrated. He played in two significantly different offenses. I was super impressed with him both in our game and on tape. I know in that offense he’s throwing into space and reading the leverage of the defender, where they spread you out so much more horizontally in one-on-one situations, so he probably only saw Quarters (coverage) and Man. He’s not reading, ‘Are they rolling strong, rolling weak, reading Cover 2,’ but he would sit in the pocket and hang tough. He can make all throws, can throw with touch. He might not run straight-line as fast as Levis, but I think he’s able to escape and create better and has much better pocket presence.”

The last like about escaping and creating is interesting because it’s not something I thought he was good at. Hooker either throws from the pocket or runs the football. He doesn’t really scramble to create.

Hooker continues to remain the most controversial prospect in the class and will be a fascinating player to watch throughout his career.
