Michigan football is down two safeties this offseason quite unexpectedly.
As far as the defensive backfield goes, the Wolverines have a considerable amount of depth at safety. Starters Rod Moore and Makari Paige return, and up-and-comers Keon Sabb and Zeke Berry are waiting in the wings. But co-starter RJ Moten unexpectedly departed the program earlier this week, entering the transfer portal. Now a different up-and-comer is following suit.
According to On3, second-year defensive back Damani Dent, who came to Ann Arbor via Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a new opportunity, is joining Moten in the NCAA transfer portal.

Dent did not see game action in 2022 as he reportedly had an injury. He will have a full four years at his next destination. As a recruit, Dent was a three-star, rated No. 778 overall according to the 247Sports composite.
Michigan football has lost four players via the transfer portal this week, as Dent and Moten join wide receiver A.J. Henning and linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green (who committed to Charlotte just after entering) departing the program.
