There’s nothing like the sweet, sweet sounds of a baseball hitting a bat at full speed. Add ESPN’s juiced up microphone system to the mix, and you’ll get something like we got with this absolute monster home run from Los Angeles Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani.
In the first inning of the Angels Sunday night matchup against the Chicago White Sox, Ohtani got all of Dylan Cease’s first pitch of the at bat, sending a 451-foot bomb out to center field for his second home run of the season.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, the sound Ohtani’s dinger made as it cracked off the bat and into the stands is worth at least 10 replays of this clip.

There are also a couple of other things to note here about Ohtani’s thundering home run. First, Ohtani was penciled into the second spot in the Angels’ lineup on Sunday, the first time in 118 years where a pitcher has cracked the top two of a lineup card.
Second, Ohtani now holds the current season record for fastest pitch of any starting pitcher AND hardest-hit home run of the season by any player.
