Former Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr.’s long wait to hear his name called in the 2022 NFL draft ended just moments ago as the Minnesota Vikings selected Booth No.42 overall in the second round.
The former Tiger will make his way to Minneapolis, with the Vikings trading back up for the opportunity to take Booth, who slid out of the first round where many had projected him to go.
Surprisingly, Booth fell to being the sixth cornerback in the draft, taken behind the likes of top guys in Derek Stingley Jr. (Houston Texans) and Sauce Gardner (New York Jets). Some of the others drafted before him had a similar range of outcomes though Booth seemed to be more talented than most picked before him.
Injuries likely played a factor in his falling in the draft as he dealt with many injuries throughout his time at Clemson. Most recently, he wasn’t able to compete at the NFL scouting combine due to having surgery on a herniated disk.
The Minnesota Vikings could possibly have walked away with the steal of the draft.
