Former Clemson cornerback and projected first-round pick Andrew Booth Jr. was unable to perform at Clemson’s pro day, and now it has been reported that he has undergone surgery.
According to ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Booth has undergone surgery for a sports hernia. Dr. Williams Meyers, who is based in Philadelphia, conducted the surgery.
Although the injury could cause him to fall in the draft, Booth is still expected to be ready at the start of training camp.
Analysts have projected Booth, who finished last season with a team-high three interceptions, to be drafted as early as 14th and as late as an early second-round pick.
Many mock drafts have him being selected 30th by the Kansas City Chiefs. Others project him to be drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles or the Minnesota Vikings.
Whichever team selects Booth, it will gain a ball-hawking cornerback that has the upside to become one of the NFL’s most elite, playmaking defenders.
