Andre Lipcius records two-hit game versus White Sox

Former Vol Andre Lipcius records two-hit game versus the White Sox.

Detroit defeated the White Sox, 3-2, Sunday at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.

Former Vol Andre Lipcius started at third base for the Tigers. He was 2-for-3 and recorded his third RBI since being called up from Triple-A.

The former Vol was a third-round selection by Detroit in the 2019 MLB draft (No. 83 overall).

Lipcius played third base and shortstop for Tennessee from 2017-19 and was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2017.

He became the third Vol during the Tony Vitello era to debut in Major League Baseball, joining Garrett Crochet (2020) and Ben Joyce (2023).

Vitello has served as the Vols’ head coach since 2018.

Detroit will next play Tuesday, hosting Cincinnati to open a three-game series. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m. EDT at Comerica Park.
