Former Vol Andre Lipcius makes MLB debut.

Detroit defeated the White Sox, 4-2, Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.

Former Vol Andre Lipcius, made his Major League Baseball debut with the Tigers. He entered the contest as a pinch hitter and remained in the game, playing third base. He was 0-for-2.

The former Vol was a third-round selection by Detroit in the 2019 MLB draft (No. 83 overall).

Lipcius played third base and shortstop for Tennessee from 2017-19 and was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2017.

He became the third Vol during the Tony Vitello era to debut in Major League Baseball, joining Garrett Crochet (2020) and Ben Joyce (2023).

Vitello has served as the Vols’ head coach since 2018.

Detroit will next play Saturday versus Chicago. First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m. EDT at Guaranteed Rate Field.
