Analyst believes Warriors duo could become bitter ‘like Scotty & MJ’

Klay Thompson and Steph Curry have won multiple championships together, and helped create history for the Golden State Warriors. However, Pat McAfee believes the duo could grow bitter toward each other when their playing careers are over.

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most successful franchises of the last decade. The Warriors’ core boasts four championship rings apiece.  Their commitment to off-ball movement, pace and space, and relentless scoring from the perimeter has helped usher in a new brand of basketball around the world.

At their peak, there wasn’t a backcourt duo in the NBA that was as terrifying as Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. The ‘splash brothers’ epitomized Golden State’s ferocious scoring ability and often dismantled teams from the perimeter. However, in a June 30 episode of The Pat McAfee show, the idea that Thompson and Curry’s partnership could eventually end in a bitter feud was floated around.

“Steph Curry, the basketball player, of course, and also golfer. Saw him chip in, literally at Edgewood or whatever, and I appreciate him and everything he’s about,” McAfee said. “And Klay Thompson, I know at one time he was part of the Splash Brothers. Was just knocking down threes – massive piece to the four rings. I did not know he had his own shoes, his own polo…Are we staring down, 15-20 years from now, another Scotty Pippin and Jordan situation here with Klay Thompson and Steph Curry? … Are we worried about that, or is Klay Thompson just an incredibly cool guy?”

Unlike Jordan and Pippen, there doesn’t appear to be a significant personality difference between Thompson and Curry. Both Warriors guard appear to be content with their success as a team, and boast a laid-back competitivness that isn’t as jawwing as the stories we’ve heard about Jordan throughout the years. Although, Thompson is reported to have has an issue with Jordan Poole last season.

With more championship rings to play for, and two career’s that have reached the highest points in their spots, Thompson and Curry have no reason to resent each other.
