After suffering a broken nose on Tuesday night at Michigan State, Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu’s status was uncertain for today’s top-25 battle at Wisconsin. The injury occurred on a hard hit from Spartan forward Mady Sissoko as Dosunmu was attacking the rim. The foul by Sissoko was ruled as a flagrant 2 foul.
The likely All-American has been officially ruled out for Saturday’s matchup with Wisconsin and is still without an exact timetable for return.

The #WoodenAward candidate will chat with @ReceDavis.
Dosunmu will not play in today’s game at Wisconsin, but he is here with his team. #Illini

Without Dosunmu, the Fighting Illini lose their main playmaker on the offensive end. The Wooden Award candidate is averaging over 21 points per contest to go along with over 6 rebounds and 5 assists. When No. 5 Illinois last met No. 23 Wisconsin in a 75-60 Illini win on February 6, Dosunmu led the way with a triple-double.
On Thursday, Illinois was able to pick up a win over Nebraska without their star as true freshman Adam Miller stepped up with 18 key points to couple with Kofi Cockburn’s team-high 24. A tandem of freshmen in Miller and Andre Curbelo will be elevated in both opportunity and importance for Illinois without their leader.
