Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions carried a 17-point lead into halftime in the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers, then lost it in just 12 minutes.
The San Francisco 49ers will now face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl in two weeks. The Lions suffered a heartbreaking end to their season, but their journey was still remarkable and a very special story. One of the NFL’s youngest teams will be back in the mix for the 2024-25 season.
Amon-Ra St. Brown talked to the media about the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He cited a lack of execution on crucial downs as the reason for the result. St. Brown also explained that next season will be different. The Lions need to work harder to reach the top.
“I think that feeling that we all had walking off of that field — I don’t think any one of us want to feel that again if we can,” St. Brown said, via MLive.com. “I think the feeling that we have is enough to motivate us for next year. We had a good year as a whole, but it is all for nothing if you don’t win the whole thing. Everyone’s goal to start the year is to win the Super Bowl. And if you don’t? You kind of fail the season. Whatever you lose here in the NFC Championship or don’t make the playoffs, it is all the same. We will be ready.”
