Jordan Poyer isn’t going anywhere.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer is expected to re-sign with the Buffalo Bills.
Poyer was amongst one of the team’s top pending free agents this offseason and much speculation insisted he would be moving on. Some of that was created by the player himself.
Instead the 31-year-old will be back in Buffalo. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s a two-year deal for Poyer.
A separate NFL Network report added that Poyer, like many, believed his free agency options were limited by his age. He’ll be 32 next month, but upon speaking with other clubs, Poyer felt like returning to the Bills was his best option:
Just spoke with safety Jordan Poyer who said he verbally agreed to return to Bills 45 mins ago. Poyer checked out the market but felt his age (32 next month) limited his interest so deal wasn’t all he wanted.
But happy to be back w/ teammates & knows they can compete for title.

In late February, Poyer made a comment about potentially leaving Buffalo due to New York State taxes. In commenting, Poyer mentioned that signing with a team like the Miami Dolphins wouldn’t be the worst thing for him since the state of Florida does not have an income tax.
Both the team and player will hope that’s all water under the bridge now that he’s returning. Truthfully, it should be.
Poyer originally signed in Buffalo back in 2017. Teaming up with Micah Hyde, the pair quickly became one of the NFL’s top safety duos.
In 2022, Hyde missed a majority of the season due to a neck injury. A Pro Bowler himself, Hyde was tough for the team to replace but Poyer stepped up and played through numerous injuries.
The Bills, who registered a 13-3 regular season record, did not lose a game that Poyer played in until the postseason.
Poyer was named a Pro Bowler in 2022. The year prior, he earned his first–and long overdue–All-Pro selection.
