Alamo Bowl: Five predictions for Texas in the final game

Just days away from the Valero Alamo Bowl, the Longhorns Wire lays out their five predictions for the game including Tom Herman’s status.

Even if your favorite football team isn’t a part of the New Years Six bowls or the College Football Playoff, bowl season is still an exciting time to see matchups that you don’t typically see on a yearly basis. For example, Texas gets to play an old Big 12 rival, the Colorado Buffaloes, in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

When the Big 12 decided to play a 10-game season, not many could fathom that the COVID-19 pandemic would allow for a full season of football. The Longhorns had just one game canceled (Kansas) after not having any significant issues throughout the season. Texas will officially play their 10th game of the year on Tuesday.

On the flip side of the coin, the Pac-12 Conference was late to the party but were able to play five games for the most part. Lucky No. 6 for the Buffaloes will come against Texas in the Alamo Bowl.

This is a great matchup for those who love to reminisce as these two teams have met in the Big 12 Championship twice — each defeating the other for the conference title. The most recent was the 70-3 destruction of Colorado prior to Texas’ thrilling BCS Championship victory over the USC Trojans.
