Alabama’s JD Davison and Jaden Shackelford sweep weekly SEC honors

It’s just the second time in program history that the Tide has swept the SEC’s weekly honors.

No. 9 Alabama got a big win over No. 3 Gonzaga on Saturday and the result translated into a Crimson Tide sweep of weekly SEC honors. Jaden Shackelford was named the SEC Player of the Week, while JD Davison earned the league’s Freshman of the Week honor. Both announcements were made by the league office on Monday.

Shackelford also won the NCAA March Madness Player of the Week following his 28-point performance against the Bulldogs.

It is just the second time in program history that the Crimson Tide swept the league’s honors, the first being in 2020 when Kira Lewis Jr. won the Player of the Week honor while Shackelford won the week’s Freshman of the Week honor.
