August 1 was the first day that division one programs from across the country could extend official offers to high school prospects. As expected, the Alabama coaching staff extended official offers to several prospects committed to other programs.
Interestingly enough, the coaching staff extended an offer to 2023 defensive back Sharif Denson.
Denson is an interesting prospect that Alabama fans should have a close eye on. The Florida native has been committed to Florida for over a month. Recently, he sent out a tweet to another Alabama target at defensive back Cormani McClain. The tweet displayed the two together this past weekend at Florida’s July cookout with the caption “Just a matter of time.”
Alabama already has four defensive back commits in the 2023 recruiting class. The class is headlined by defensive backs Jahlil Hurley, Caleb Downs, Tony Mitchell and Brayson Hubbard.
It will be interesting to see how the Tide decides to pursue Denson. After all, Alabama’s defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson is very familiar with the Florida area after having coached at Miami. Ideally, Alabama will sign five or six defensive backs in the 2023 class. They currently have four commitments at this time. Denson is a player to keep an eye on as his recruitment heats up in the future.
