Alabama women’s basketball earns No. 8 seed in NCAA Tournament

Alabama women’s basketball slated to take on Florida State in the first round

The Alabama women’s basketball team’s run didn’t last very long in the SEC Tournament as they were eliminated by the Tennessee Lady Vols in the quarterfinals. Now, the team will have to regroup as it was announced on Sunday evening that [autotag]Kristy Curry[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide would be dancing for the second straight year and the third out of the last four tournaments.

With the first round of NCAA Tournament games starting on Friday and Saturday, No. 8 seeded Alabama will face off against No. 9 seed Florida State in the Portland 4 region. The winner between Alabama and Florida State will likely take on No. 1 Texas in Austin, TX in the second round. The Longhorns are 30-4 on the year and will certainly pose a massive challenge in the Round of 32.

The Crimson Tide enters the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 23-9 and an in-conference record of 10-6. Similar to the men’s team, their ability to make a run in the tournament comes down to the energy they put in on the defensive end.
