Alabama women eliminated from NCAA Tournament by No. 1 Texas

No. 1 seed Texas Longhorns eliminates Alabama women from March Madness

The Alabama women fought hard, but ultimately it wasn’t enough as the No. 1 seed Texas Longhorns eliminated the Crimson Tide from the NCAA Tournament on Sunday in the round of 32. It was always an uphill battle as the Longhorns hosted the No. 9 seeded Tide at home in Austin, TX.

At 32-4 on the year, Texas is widely considered one of the favorites to win the national title so there is no shame in the loss for Alabama. The Crimson Tide ended the year with a 24-10 record and a tournament win over Florida State. They were also 10-6 in SEC play which was good for a fourth-place tie with the Tennessee Volunteers.

As for the game itself, it was a frustrating afternoon for the Tide as they shot just 33.9% from the field and 27.8% from three. They also had no points scored off of the bench. Sarah Ashlee Barker led the way with 17 points and six boards in the Alabama loss.
