Alabama still favored by over two touchdowns against Ole Miss

A statement win is expected not only from the Alabama squad but the oddsmakers as well.

Three days away from kickoff and hype is beginning to build for Alabama’s top 15 matchup with Ole Miss. Lane Kiffin is returning to Tuscaloosa for the first time as the Rebels’ head coach, hoping his offensive firepower can secure a program-defining win.

It’s been six years since Ole Miss came to Bryant Denny Stadium and pulled off a similar accomplishment. Quarterback Chad Kelly willed the Rebels to an upset of the No. 2 Crimson Tide.

What’s different this time is the offensive explosion Alabama will have in the passing game to keep up. Bryce Young has the likes of Jameson Williams, John Metchie, and JoJo Earle at his fingertips to rip the ball downfield.

A statement win is expected not only from the Alabama squad but the oddsmakers as well.

Alabama remains a favorite over Ole Miss at -14.5 per Tipico Sportsbook. This will mark the 11th straight time Nick Saban’s squad is at least a two-touchdown favorite during the regular season. Last season’s home game vs Georgia was the last.

Of course, Alabama is 4-0 straight up this season but is only 2-2 against the spread. Wins against Miami and Southern Miss saw the Crimson Tide covering, while Florida and Mercer both did better than Tipico Sportsbook thought.

You can catch the game on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. CDT on CBS.
