Alabama softball goes 2-0 on Thursday; shuts out No. 1 Washington

Alabama rebounded this weekend while going 2-0 on Thursday, including an 8-0 shutout over No. 1 Washington.

After a rough start to the season for Alabama softball last weekend with losses to Florida State and UNC that made the Tide drop to No. 9 in the NCAA rankings, Alabama rebounded at the Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational on Friday while going 2-0 on Thursday, including an 8-0 shutout over No. 1 Washington.

Alabama started the day by defeating Liberty, 7-1. Not only was it an impressive offensive performance for the Tide, it was also the first time this  season that Alabama did not commit an error, which was a huge factor in the win.

After their win over Liberty, Alabama continued to dominate as they faced No. 1 Washington and beat them in 5 innings, 8-0. The win marks Alabama’s first run-rule shutout over the No. 1 team in the country, and its first shutout over a top-ranked team.

Alabama will continue at the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational with a pair of games on Friday, facing USF (9:30 a.m. CT) and third-ranked UCLA (3 p.m. CT).

Roll Tide!
