Alabama QB Bryce Young on Texas: “We have a lot of respect for them as a program”

There’s no shortage of storylines to follow regarding this particular matchup.

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a highly anticipated matchup between two historic programs in Week 2.

Texas will host No. 1 Alabama for the game of the week on Sept. 10. Both the Fox and ESPN pre-game shows will be in Austin at the same time in what is expected to be a record-breaking crowd.

There’s also no shortage of storylines to follow regarding this particular matchup. Steve Sarkisian and several assistants worked under Nick Saban prior to coming to Texas.

In Sarkisian’s Monday press conference, he spoke highly of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and their longstanding relationship. Young had several positive remarks of his own regarding the Texas football program this week.

We have a lot of respect for them as a program–them and their team. We know that we’re going to a hostile environment. So, you know, we’re gonna learn all that we can throughout the week. We’re gonna study, we’re gonna prepare. But we have a tremendous amount of respect for them. We know it’s gonna take everything. So we have to work hard throughout the week to put ourselves in the best circumstance to be successful.

While Alabama is the overwhelming favorite to win on Saturday, Sarkisian reminded the media that this particular matchup won’t impact his overall goal of getting to Dallas in December for the Big 12 Championship.
