Alabama basketball is already making moves in the transfer portal. On Tuesday, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from Pepperdine transfer guard Houston Mallette.

It did not take very long for the Alabama men’s basketball program to make a splash in the transfer portal. On Tuesday, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from Pepperdine transfer guard Houston Mallette.

Mallette spent the first three seasons of his college career with the Waves. The California native had an impressive three years in Malibu. Over the course of his career, he averaged 13.8 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game.

In addition, he shot 42.9% from the field and 37.5% from beyond-the-arc. Altogether, Mallette is a well-rounded guard that can defend and score at an elite level.

It is also interesting to point out that Mallette averaged just 1.4 turnovers per game for the Waves in three seasons. That is an impressive statistic to say the least given the fact that he was the Waves’ primary ball-handler.

Mallette will likely come in and make an immediate impact as a part of Alabama’s backcourt. With Alabama expected to lose Mark Sears to the NBA draft, it certainly helps to have a veteran guard like Mallette in the fold.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama men’s basketball program and its involvement in the NCAA transfer portal.
