Now more than ever it is time to see what Alabama Crimson Tide head basketball coach [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] is made of. Oats has won the SEC regular season and tournament and made multiple sweet sixteen’s, but getting the Tide ready for 2023-2024 will be his toughest task yet. Now, he will have to do it without three assistant coaches. Kennesaw State announced the hiring of Antoine Pettway.
Not only have the Tide lost arguably the best player in program history, Brandon Miller, to the NBA draft, but guys like Jaden Bradley and Nimari Burnett have departed via the transfer portal. The roster will look completely different next year, but that might not even be the hardest part of the offseason for Oats.
Oats will now be losing his third assistant this offseason as Pettway will take over as head coach at Kennesaw State. Pettway was a massive recruiter for the Tide, so this loss is a painful one. This speaks to Alabama’s growth as a program, considering all three of Oats’ assistants left the program this Spring to take on their own head coaching roles.
Owl Nation, let's welcome our new head coach @AntoinePettway #HootyHoo 🦉
