In February, Roll Tide Wire discovered that Benton was no longer listed on the team’s official roster.

At the time, many wondered if there was more to the story, or it was simply an error, especially since Alabama quickly added him to the online directory after many started realizing he was not on the online team roster.

Now we know why. And Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on this story.

According to 247 sports, Benton was a top 100 recruit, the No. 4 in state Alabama prospect as well as the No. 7 overall outside linebacker in the 2017 recruiting class.

Last season, Benton played in 9 games, and recorded 19 tackles (1 tackle for loss), and 1 pass breakup. As a redshirt freshman in 2018, he appeared in all 14 games. In his career, Benton has 33 tackles.
