On Wednesday, Alabama linebacker Markail Benton decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. This is the second day in a row an Alabama football player decided to enter the transfer portal. On Tuesday, wide receiver Tyrell Shavers entered his name into the portal as well.
Benton, who came to Tuscaloosa as a 4 star recruit was suspended from the team earlier this year.
According to 247 sports, Benton was a top 100 recruit, the No. 4 in state Alabama prospect as well as the No. 7 overall outside linebacker in the 2017 recruiting class.
Last season, Benton played in 9 games, and recorded 19 tackles (1 tackle for loss), and 1 pass breakup.
As a redshirt freshman in 2018, he appeared in all 14 games. In his career, Benton has 33 tackles.
