On Tuesday night, Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith made history when he won the Heisman Trophy. He was the first wide receiver since Desmond Howard in 1991 to win the prestigious award.

On Thursday, the Home Depot College Football Awards show was held, and, as you would expect, it was another banner night for Smith and his Alabama teammates.

Smith took home the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to college football’s top wide receiver, the Walter Camp Player of the Year, and the Maxwell Award — given to college football’s top player.

Quarterback Mac Jones took home the Davey O’Brien Award as the top quarterback in college football. Jones was also a finalist for the Maxwell Award.

Running back Najee Harris became the third Alabama player to win the Doak Walker Award as the top running back in college football. Harris led college football in total touchdowns in 2020.

Offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood won the Outland Trophy as college football’s top interior lineman. A dominant force at left tackle, Leatherwood has started 40 consecutive games for the Crimson Tide. He is Alabama’s sixth winner of the Outland Trophy.

Center Landon Dickerson won the Rimington Trophy as college football’s top center. Since coming to Alabama two years ago as a transfer from Florida State, Dickerson has turned his career around and resembles the dominant player he was predicted to be out of high school.

Cornerback Patrick Surtain II and kicker Will Reichard were also finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award and Lou Groza Award, respectively.

The Crimson Tide play Ohio State in the national championship on Monday, Jan. 11.
