DeVonta Smith, Wide Receiver
Speaking of Smith, all we can say is “wow” when referring to his third year in Tuscaloosa. Coming into this season, many predicted that Waddle would pass Smith on the depth chart.
Not only did that not happen, but Smith has been the most productive receiver on the roster — at least from a statistical standpoint. He leads the team in receiving yards (1,200) and receiving touchdowns (13) while ranking second in receptions (65) behind Jeudy.
Smith also broke the records for most receiving yards (274) and receiving touchdowns (5) in a single game against Ole Miss back in Week 5.
So, why should he stick around for another season? Well, it would give him the opportunity to prove that he can be the No. 1 or No. 2 receiver, which comes with extra attention from opposing defenses.
If Smith chooses to come out early, there will be those who say that his production was a result of the attention given to Jeudy and Ruggs, regardless of the validity of such statement.
What he should do? Stay.
