The second season of the decade saw the Tide earn a national championship and revenge. The only loss came against LSU in the regular season when Alabama fell to the then-top ranked Tigers, 9-6. Alabama dusted itself off and went on to win its final four games of the season, crushing Auburn in the Iron Bowl and settling a score with LSU by blanking the Tigers, 21-0, for the national championship. Jeremy Shelley was an unexpected hero in the title game, kicking five field goals to give the Tide a 15-0 lead before Trent Richardson iced it with a TD.
