Alabama football: Ranking the top 5 uniform concepts

The Alabama jerseys have stayed the same for a while, but what could they look like if they changed? We rank the top 5 concepts we’ve seen.

Alabama football has worn the same uniforms, with slight variations over time, for decades. The Crimson Tide has worn white helmets in the 1960s, which included a houndstooth design in the jersey. But that idea only lasted for one game.

Head coach Nick Saban even chimed in on the idea of changing jerseys during a 2019 press conference.

“I don’t think the coach should change uniforms. I don’t think the coach should change the color of the helmets. I just don’t believe that. Now that doesn’t mean that’s wrong when somebody does that or they think they should do it or whatever.”

So, if the uniforms won’t be facing any drastic changes in the coming years, what’s stopping fans from imagining what any of those changes could look like?

There aren’t too many Alabama uniform concept ideas out there, which is probably a good thing considering Crimson Tide fans love the traditional look. In fact, those who have attempted the new uniforms idea have mostly received negative — and I mean, negative — feedback from fans.

As a result, the options to choose from when creating a “top 5” list were scarce, but we were able to find at least one jersey concept that didn’t have the same typical negative reaction from the masses as others. So with that said, let’s look at several of the changes people have attempted to make.
