Alabama fires baseball coach Brad Bohannon after game against LSU flagged for ‘suspicious wagering activity’

The Crimson Tide cut ties with the sixth-year coach on Thursday morning, citing a violation of “the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of University employees.”

Alabama has made a change at head coach midway through the season.

On Thursday, the program fired sixth-year baseball coach Brad Bohannon. According to a statement from the university, the reasoning for Bohannon’s termination includes “violating the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of University employees.”

The decision comes amid a gambling probe into what was described as “suspicious wagering activity” surrounding the Crimson Tide’s Game 1 loss at LSU last weekend. Gaming regulators in the state of Ohio ordered sportsbooks to cease accepting wagers on Alabama baseball games following a report from a third-party monitor.

The university has said it will not comment further as there is an ongoing review process. To be clear, it is not confirmed that Bohannon’s dismissal and the gambling probe are related.

Alabama currently sits at 30-15 on the season. Bohannon finishes his tenure in Tuscaloosa with an overall 166-124 (48-91 SEC) record and one appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
