Alabama defeats Tennessee to even series

Recapping Lady Vols’ loss at Alabama.

The No. 21 Lady Vols committed four errors in a 7-1 Southeastern Conference loss at Alabama on Saturday.

Tennessee (21-4, 2-3 SEC) scored the first run of the contest when Kiki Milloy came home when Crimson Tide pitcher Lexi Kilfoy uncorked a wild pitch.

After that Kilfoy (10-0) settled down and scattered six hits in a complete game victory for No. 3 Alabama (23-2, 4-1).

Bailey Hemphill went 2-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs and a run scored for the Crimson Tide.

Amanda Ayala had two hits for the Lady Vols, who stranded eight runners in the game.

Tennessee pitcher Callie Turner started and suffered her first loss of the season. She went four innings and gave up six runs, but only three were earned. Turner surrendered six hits and three walks and struck out one.

Samantha Bender threw two innings and yielded one run and two hits. She recorded one strikeout.

Game three and the final contest of the series will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. EDT. ESPNU will televise the contest.

The series is tied 1-1 between Tennessee and Alabama.
