Alabama center Landon Dickerson enjoyed a career resurgence after transferring to Alabama ahead of the 2019 college football season.
After three injury-plagued seasons at Florida State, Dickerson was looking for a fresh start to end his college career on a high note.
As a graduate transfer, Dickerson was eligible immediately in 2019.
He instantly became a starter on the interior of Alabama’s offensive line. Dickerson started nine games at center and four at right guard for the Crimson Tide. He was a second-team All-SEC selection.
In 2020, Dickerson started Alabama’s first 11 games, where he was named first-team All-SEC, unanimous first-team All-American, and won the Rimington Award — given annually to college football’s top center.
Unfortunately for Dickerson, he injured his knee in the SEC championship game win over Florida. He would miss the College Football Playoff; however, head coach Nick Saban would send Dickerson on the field for Alabama’s final snap in a nod of respect for the valuable and beloved Dickerson.
On Wednesday, Dickerson announced he would not return to Tuscaloosa for his final year of eligibility. Dickerson, a redshirt senior, was eligible for one more season due to the NCAA giving all fall athletes an extra year of eligibility.
The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Dickerson is expected to be selected in the early rounds of the 2021 NFL draft.
