Alabama CB Eli Ricks would choose himself at No. 1 over Will Anderson and Bryce Young

Alabama CB Eli Ricks believes in himself and what he will bring to the NFL team that drafts him.

Alabama cornerback Eli Ricks spoke with the media on Thursday at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. Ricks was asked by an NFL reporter who he would take with the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft between two of his teammates,Will Anderson and Bryce Young.

Ricks had an interesting, yet confident answer. He responded to the question by saying, “I’m taking Eli Ricks, to be honest.”

Ricks being selected No. 1 overall would be surprising considering he played in 10 games in an Alabama uniform and made five starts for the Tide last season.

Many experts anticipated Ricks being a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL draft, but that seems to have changed after 2022. He is more likely to be taken in the second or third round.

Ricks also said that he will not be particpating in any drills at the combine this weekend. “I have a Grade 2 (hamstring) strain I’m shaking back from. But at pro day, I will be doing everything, and I expect to surprise a lot of people,” Ricks said.

Alabama’s Pro Day will be held on March 23. It will be interesting to see how Ricks measures and performs and if it alters his draft stock.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama players participating in the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.
