The No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide opens their run at an SEC Tournament Championship as the No. 1 seed Friday against the No. 9 seed Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Tide will be rested and fresh, as they have had six days off from competition.

It will also be the first game that the Crimson Tide has played since the announcement of Nate Oats as SEC Coach of the Year, and Herbert Jones as defensive, as well as overall, player of the year in the conference.

Alabama wrapped up the Southeastern Conference regular-season title by defeating Mississippi State 64-59 on February 27 in Starkville. Jahvon Quinerly led the Tide in points with 19, while Herbert Jones pulled down 14 rebounds. It was the second time this season that the Tide defeated Mississippi State. Every starter for the Tide reached double-figures in scoring en route to an 81-73 win on January 23.
