Alabama baseball improves to 5-0 after win over Alabama State

Alabama is off to a hot start on the diamond.

The Alabama Crimson Tide is off to a great start on the baseball diamond this season. The Tide remains perfect five games into the season following its win against the Alabama State Hornets on Wednesday afternoon.

Alabama combined for a season-high 14 hits and scored nine runs in the blowout 9-2 victory over the Hornets at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Alabama was led offensively by Jim Jarvis. The third-year shortstop finished 2-for-4, including his first career home-run, to go with a career-high three runs scored and team-high tying two RBIs. Also homering in the game was Drew Williamson with the senior matching Jarvis in RBIs and adding a run and a walk to his totals.

The Crimson Tide saw six different pitchers put in work in the win, combining for just two runs (one earned) and seven strikeouts. Hunter Ruth grabbed the win after 2.0 scoreless innings and three strikeouts.

Alabama played its last home game of February as they will travel to Austin for a weekend series against the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns.
