A.J. Green has yet to sign his franchise tag with the Cincinnati Bengals.

It’s not the most shocking development in the world given the circumstances. But Green’s name remains on a list that continues to feature fewer names seemingly by the day.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, only Green, Dak Prescott, Matthew Judon, Justin Simmons, Yannick Ngakoue, Chris Jones and Shaq Barrett haven’t signed tenders — eight other names have already put ink to paper.

The clock keeps ticking for the Bengals and Green on this front. The deadline is July 15, so we’ll know in the next month and change if the two sides can work something out for the long-term.

But by the sounds of comments from Duke Tobin, getting Joe Mixon an extension is a priority. That would make some sense given Green’s injury history and the fact the team hasn’t been able to get him in the building to even see if he’s able to stay healthy.

A Mixon extension wouldn’t happen until after the July 15 deadline for Green though for cap reasons.

None of this is to say there is any drama brewing here. Green has already said he’d play under the tag. He’s also been chatting with Joe Burrow about setting up workouts.

Otherwise, it’s holding-pattern time for the foreseeable future on the Green front until we get deeper into the summer.
