A.J. Brown has heartfelt message for Julio Jones after Titans release

A.J. Brown says goodbye to his idol and now-former Titans teammate, Julio Jones.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly set to part ways with wide receiver Julio Jones after one season. The team will release the future Hall of Famer with a post-June 1 designation, which will free up $9.5 million in cap space after that date.

As exciting as the trade for Jones was for Tennessee, the hype didn’t match the results. Jones was plagued by a hamstring injury all season long, and only posted 434 yards and one touchdown in the 10 games he did play.

One person who this move will hit hard is wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has idolized Jones and heavily recruited him to Nashville.

After hearing news of Jones’ impending release, Brown took to Twitter with a message for the 33-year-old.

“You have taught me a lot in a short period of time,” Brown wrote. “I’m grateful to be apart of you journey. You’re the reason why I started to begin to play this game. A HOF receiver is what you are and what I strive to be one day. Thank you, I’ll take it from here! Salute!”

With Jones gone, Brown remains as the only starting-caliber wide receiver on the Titans’ roster. General manager Jon Robinson has a lot of work to do moving forward. Let’s hope he has something big up his sleeve.
