Aggies make Final Three for 2023 Cornerback, Malik Muhammad

The Aggies have been included in the final list for one of the top defensive back prospects in the 2023 recruiting class, Malik Muhammad, whose final school list includes Texas, Alabama, and Texas A&M. Muhammad is entering his senior season at South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas, and has selectively narrowed down his choices after months of speculation on which program he’s trending towards.

Malik Muhammad has been climbing the recruiting ranks over the past year while receiving offers from nearly every notable Power 5 program, solidifying himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the country after his 2021 junior season where he recorded 68 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 6 pass breakups on the year.

Texas A&M has made its mark with Muhammad after offering him on March 2nd, 2021, racking up the unofficial visits starting on June 4th, 2021, April 9th, and June 24th, with his official visit set for July 29th. Concerning the other two contenders, Muhammad officially visited the Longhorns on June 17th, with two unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa this year.

In my recent evaluation of Malik Muhammad, I detailed his various traits and ability at the cornerback position:

As a prospect, Malik Muhammad is one of the most athletic and versatile defensive back players in the class, with the ability to play on the boundary and in the slot, and also flex out to the safety position. he consistently transitions well out of his backpedal, has great hip fluidity in his turns, and shows good burst and quickness against a variety of receivers. He displays fantastic play speed and is a solid man defender while showing great instincts in zone coverage.

Overall, Muhammad is one of the toughest defenders in the class and doesn’t show away from contributing in run defense, and never gives up in coverage.

Malik Muhammad has yet to announce a commitment date, and with his official visit to College Station set for the end of July, The Aggies are in the great territory to make their final pitch and create a lasting impression on the future star that will make his decision that much easier.
