Aggies make Final Five for 2023 Wide receiver, Tyler Williams

Texas A&M has made yet another final list for one of the top 2023 recruits in the nation, this time landing in the Final Five for one of the more electrifying wide receiver prospects in the class, Lakeland, Florida’s own Tyler Williams. Currently listed as a 4-Star prospect, and the 24th ranked Wide receiver in the country according to 247Sports, Williams is coming off of a stellar junior season where he recorded 21 receptions for 616 yards and 11 touchdowns for Lakeland High School. As he goes into his senior season, Williams has narrowed down his college choices to the following 5 schools: Clemson, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Williams recruitment has been busy the last two months, compiling his final list after a visit to Clemson on June 3rd, Georgia on June 10th, and Texas A&M on June 24th, with future visits most likely coming sooner than later if personally warranted with his commitment date still unannounced.

In a scouting report from Southeast Recruiting Analyst, Andrew Ivins, he described Williams’ ability on the field:

A quarterback-turned-wide receiver that’s also a legitimate D1 basketball prospect. Looks a bit taller on tape than he actually is, which likely stems from the fact that he’s got a lean, wiry frame with longer limbs. Limited, if any, testing data available, but he seems to have no issues getting behind defenders on Friday nights. Has also shown that he’s capable of hitting an extra gear after the catch and seems to run with a natural bounce to his step. Kind of a linear deep-ball specialist at this stage in his development, but that could be a product of the run-first offensive system that he played in as a junior (only caught 21 passes). Has produced in key situations and helped flip the field time after time, but will need to keep progressing as a route runner and learn how to consistently create separation when working the lower numbers of the route tree. Must also eventually add some core strength as that should allow him to be an effective perimeter blocker.

Tyler Williams is truly an elite athlete in every way, with several offers to play basketball at the division-1 level on top of his numerous Power-5 football scholarships begging for the young pass-catcher to play for their program. With the Aggies hoping that their recruiting momentum begins to pick up as we officially start the month of July, Williams is in a select group of priority-based recruits for the program, and you can be assured that Texas A&M’s staff will be keeping an open line of communication with Williams all the way until his commitment date.
