The Patriots won’t be in the Super Bowl in two Sundays from now, but if they were, there might be serious question whether or not their best receiver, Julian Edelman, would be able to play.
Yes, the 10-year vet played in all 16 games for his club this season, catching 100 passes for 1,117 yards. But Patriots Wire reported on Edelman’s third injury he played with last season.
Edelman, 33, apparently had shoulder surgery last week. That’s added to a growing list of his injuries as the receiver reportedly also had a procedure to repair his knee this offseason and Patriots Wire also wrote that Edelman was playing with torn rib cartilage for most of the year.
Edelman is set to make a base salary of $3.3 million in 2020 and can opt out after next season.. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2022. While Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has the microscope on him in regard to his age, Edelman is also no longer a young stud in the Patriots organization and that’s a laundry list of issues for him from just one season alone.
And like Brady, Edelman has often been a thorn in the side of the Bills defense over the years and 2019 was no different.
