AEW Dynamite preview: Pillars clash, Tony Khan has another announcement

Will MJF’s alliance with Sammy Guevara continue? And will Tony Khan make AEW’s Saturday show official?

If there’s one thing that gets the pro wrestling community talking, it’s a Tony Khan announcement on AEW Dynamite. Sometimes they are legitimately mind-blowing, like when AEW announced its upcoming debut in the U.K. will be at Wembley Stadium.

Other times, not so much. But the possibility that Khan will officially reveal the name and premiere date of AEW’s upcoming Saturday show — or even mention the return of CM Punk — has people especially curious about tonight’s show in Sunrise, Fla.

Here are three more things we’re also anxious to see on Dynamite tonight.

Will MJF’s handpicked Pillar make it through Darby Allin?

When MJF decided to let the other three Pillars compete to see who would earn the right to face him for his beloved BBB, we should have known he wasn’t going to leave it to chance. He hatched a plot with Sammy Guevara to get Jack Perry out of the way, and now all that’s left is to dispense with Darby Allin.

The thing is, it would be very MJF to also stab Sammy in the back if Darby is who he’d prefer to face. Or maybe their impromptu alliance will just backfire spectacularly when it matters most. Either way, this should be an intriguing mini-tournament final.

Can Orange Cassidy continue his breakneck title defense pace?

Wrestling shows often talk about a “fighting champion” or a “working class championship,” but Orange Cassidy and the AEW International Championship really are both of those things. But there’s a price to pay for putting yourself up against some of the best every week, and Cassidy’s story is starting to reflect the idea that he’s simply getting worn out.

Will his ambitious title defense schedule finally catch up with him this week against Bandido? You can’t rule it out.

Jade Cargill is going to lose her TBS Championship eventually, right?

AEW has done a nice job in a relatively short period of time making Taya Valkyrie feel like a legitimate candidate to hand Jade Cargill her first ever singles defeat. In fact, she is really the first opponent Jade has had in a while with that kind of effort invested in her.

That doesn’t mean Cargill is losing tonight — her streak has gone on long enough that she deserves to drop the strap at a pay-per-view. But don’t be surprised if Valkyrie pushes her to the limit and their program continues.

Also scheduled for the AEW Dynamite card tonight:
