AEW Dynamite preview 11/29/23: Continental Classic continues with Gold League matches

Switchblade vs. Swerve should be the highlight of AEW Dynamite this week, plus Christian Cage responds to Adam Copeland.

While there’s been plenty of news this week about a certain departed star who has resurfaced elsewhere, AEW has its own things going on that will be a big part of this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Minneapolis. Specifically, it’s tournament time once again.

Will Jay White or Swerve Strickland go to 2-0?

Both Jay White and Swerve Strickland were victorious in their opening round robin bouts last week. But now they face tougher challenges when they go up against each other.

AEW is positioning both men as top stars, with Switchblade coming off a world title shot and Swerve certainly on his way toward one (and if he isn’t, Tony Khan has some explaining to do). That gives one the feeling that this could be headed toward the first draw of the Continental Classic.

That could put them behind Jon Moxley, who is also 1-0 and has what should be a winnable match tonight against Jay Lethal. The Gold League could really start picking up the intrigue in Minneapolis.

Can Mark Briscoe or Rush bounce back?

In contrast to White and Strickland, both Mark Briscoe and Rush are 0-1 and can’t afford to lose too much ground on the group leaders. It would be super helpful if the other matches went to draws, but they could use a ‘W’ as well.

A case could be made for either man to be the surprise participant who pushes the top names in the group, and the outcome of this match could be a strong signal toward who it will be.

What will Christian Cage say when he responds to Adam Copeland?

ICYMI, Adam Copeland cut his most passionate AEW promo to date on Collision after attacking Killswitch. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.

Yeah, that dude isn’t messing around.

Anyway, Christian Cage will appear tonight on Dynamite to answer Copeland’s challenge for his TNT Championship next week on Dynamite in Montreal. And if he can match Copeland’s intensity, it should be some response.

All this plus Bryan Danielson on commentary tonight. AEW Dynamite comes our way at 8 p.m. on TBS, and we’ll be taking it in live and doing results and updates as it plays out.
